7th Berlin Forum on Korea

Abstract

The 7th Berlin Forum on Korea, held on November 11-12, 2023, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Graduate School of East Asian Studies. Titled "Diversity in Unity – Cultural Diplomacy in East Asia," the conference brought together scholars to explore cultural diplomacy and heritage preservation. Discussions focused on how countries without significant political power can influence cultural discourses and the challenge of reconciling claims of cultural uniqueness with shared traditions. The forum emphasized the negotiation of tradition, the interplay between cultural and heritage diplomacy, and the reception of cultural narratives by international audiences
