Abstract

Norbert Mappes-Niediek, born in 1953, has been a freelance correspondent covering Southeast Europe since 1991. Over the years, he has written for prominent publications, including Die Zeit, Frankfurter Rundschau, Berliner Zeitung, and Der Standard, and continues to contribute to Deutschlandfunk, among others. His latest book, Krieg in Europa: Der Zerfall Jugoslawiens und der überforderte Kontinent (War in Europe: The Collapse of Yugoslavia and the Overwhelmed Continent), examines the dissolution of Yugoslavia and its far-reaching impact on Europe.
